How to Maximize Your Vanilla Caviar
The fine black seeds (caviar) inside vanilla pods are the primary source of sweet aroma. To extract them:
- Place the vanilla pod horizontally on a clean cutting board.
- Use a small sharp knife to split the pod lengthwise from end to end.
- Use the back of the knife to gently scrape the inside of the pod.
- Mix the vanilla caviar directly into your cream batter, warm milk, or sugar. The empty pod shell can be steeped to make homemade vanilla extract.
Ideal Storage for Lasting Freshness
Our premium vanilla pods are a natural organic ingredient that require proper handling to preserve their aroma quality long-term:
- Use an Airtight Container: Place in an airtight glass jar or food-grade vacuum plastic bag.
- Room Temperature Only: Store in a dark, cool, and dry kitchen cabinet. Keep away from stove heat.
- DO NOT Refrigerate: Cold temperature will dry out the pod's moisture and trigger mold growth.
- Air Out Periodically: If stored for more than 3 months, take the pods out for 10 minutes every month.
